Hey, does it seem wierd to anyone else that this man just lost his 16 year old son and the news media is dissecting it? The autopsy shows that Jett Travolta had a seizure and the seizure killed him. The news media is pulling it apart talking about John and Kelly's religious preferences and how they disease they say Jett had wasn't relevant to his death.
My thing is...is this REALLY necessary to stick needles into this family by exploiting their grief? Does it REALLY matter what religion they follow and whether Jett had other problems?
NO! Seriously. Does this country have nothing else going on to talk about?
I was terribly sad to hear about John Travolta and Kelly Preston's son. It's awful. But I don't need to know that John cried or that the boy was cremated and that there may be some controversy involved with his death.
I wish they would leave this poor famly alone.
What do you think?

I could NOT agree more. It so sad that our media outlets have stooped to this level. Just let them grieve! They are treating this like there is some scandal involved. Well, there's not! It is an unbelieveable tragedy - case closed. Thankfully I have not seen any current video of the Travolta's so major kudos to whoever is managing to keep them physically out of the public's eye. I am sure at some point they will be on Oprah since they're such good friends but that is STRICTLY up to the family about if, where & when they want to talk about such a personal heartbreak. I believe the economy, war in Iraq, upcoming inauguration, gas prices and The Madoff guy (aren't some names just PERFECT? we couldn't make this stuff up!) mailing his jewels to family members to try to save some assets is PUBLIC news - not the devastating loss of this young life - famous parents or not. Thanks for this forum that allows us to express our feelings about this.

I agree too that the media need to let the family have their privacy. It should not matter if they are celebrity or not, they deserve to grieve like anyone else, not for the world to see and to judge them if they act or do not act a certain way.The media needs to let them be during this difficult time and find something more important to focus on like the economy or the war in Iraq not what John Travolta's son died from. Its none of anybody's business.
ReplyDeleteI 100% agree with you that it should not be dissected they way it has been. However I do not think that the country has nothing better to talk about. It is what the media is choosing to talk about and thus we are where we are.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree. It reminds me (in a very different way, though) of the media chaos surrounding Anna Nicole Smith and her baby... It's really none of anyone's business. John & Kelly are very private people (or seem to be) and kept their home lives out of the public eye, for the most part. I don't see why the media needs to pick everything apart. They just lost their son. Leave the family alone to grieve.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to them.
